IT Store Privacy Notice

We understand the importance of privacy and security, and take it very seriously. We created this Privacy Notice to let you know what type of information we collect when you visit our website (
http://itstore.ou.edu), why we collect it and how we use it. This document also covers the steps taken to keep your information secure. This Privacy Notice is governed by our Terms of Use. Any changes to these policies will be indicated on this site, or in the Terms of Use notification on our login page. Please read this document carefully and check it frequently for updates. By accepting the Terms of Use provided upon login to the IT Store (http://itstore.ou.edu), you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Notice.


What type of personal information is gathered by the IT Store?

To personalize and enhance your experience on the IT Store, the following types of information is collected:


Do you use cookies and other such things?

The IT Store does not use cookies to store user information and requires that you log in every time you wish to use the IT Store website.


Does the IT Store share my information with anyone? What about with your External Partners?

Absolutely not! While we do store certain aspects of your information (see “What type of personal information is gathered by the IT Store?” and “Give me some examples of the type of information you store about me'), we will never sell or share your information with anyone. Our relationship with our External Partners simply allows us to offer additional products, services and discounts. We do not sell or share your information with them.


What does the IT Store do with my information?

We use the information we collect to improve the IT Store and conduct various statistical and trend-related observations to better serve you. This allows us to continue offering relevant products and services, and constantly improve the overall customer experience on the website. Information and statistical observations are strictly for internal purposes and will only be used by the IT Store and its parent organization – the University of Oklahoma Information Technology department (OU IT).

Examples of the type of statistics are:
- Determine the average number of users for a given period of time
- Determine how many students versus faculty/staff use the IT Store
- What are the most popular products on the IT store
- Provide sales figures for a given period of time


How secure is my personal information?

The following steps are taken to make sure your informaton is handled with utmost care:


Give me some examples of the type of information you store about me.

Information provided by you: This information is obtained when you log in, purchase items and sign up for services. For example: you provide your username (OUNetID) at login which we store to keep track of web hits and for security purposes (we do not store or keep track of your password). During checkout, you provide your OUID or departmental account number which we store along with the rest of the order information. NOTE: In the case of credit cards, we only store the last 4 digits of the credit card number and the Transaction ID. We do not store any other credit card related information. When purchasing Service Level Agreements, we ask for your computer information including make, model and the MAC Address of your computer. Information provided while signing up for services are sent to the IT Store mailbox for archival purposes.

Automatic Information: When you log in, we retrieve your first name, last name, email address and department (for faculty/staff). When you make a purchase on the IT Store, all this is stored along with the rest of your order information. This helps us better communicate with you regarding the status of your order. Your IP Address, date and time of visit are also obtained and stored for security and log purposes.
